can i JUST run?

in an effort to:

  1. keep it simple
  2. do what i love
  3. burn lots of fat
  4. streamline my workouts
  5. utilize my TIME best
  6. keep down costs

and in an effort NOT to:

  1. have to join a gym
  2. incure more expense w/ clothes/paraphenalia

i have just run.

i'm just HOPING i can continue. i'm hoping, at least for now, that i can JUST run.

personally, "I DON' WANNA" join a gym:

  1. don't wanna pay for it.
  2. don't wanna go INSIDE (dread) and sweat with other people.
  3. don' wanna be cooped up.
  4. don't wanna smell the sweat of others. see recurring theme here?

but the LOGICAL me (yes, it's there, just WAY DOWN inside) knows:

  1. cross-training is good for you. me.
  2. i need to build some upper body strength.
  3. i'm female. things sag w/ time. ugh(ly)
  4. cross-training keeps over-use (running) injuries at bay.

but, yuk:

  1. i don' wanna.
  2. ibid.
  3. ibid.
  4. ibid.

someday, methinks, dh and i will join a gym together.

weirder things have happened. might not be too far off in the future.

we've tried our own homemade-gym-type-venture-in-the-garage route. that might happen again.

  1. both of us have lost wt (did-i-mention-he-had-no-weight-problem?)
  2. both of us are much more physically active. he: bike, push-ups, sit-ups; me: running
  3. on a good food path TOGETHER. fun, really. it's working.

conclusion=we could try it again. the home gym thing.

we'd need a good fan, tho. we have hot summers. yuk: garage gym...sweat. oh, back to that confined-sweat-smell theme. at least it'd be from his sexy bod and not "other people!" =)

thank God for sweat, huh? i knew a girl who did not sweat. she puked instead. true story. her body had to get rid of that somehow. so in summer when really hot and working out, she'd end up THROWING UP. poor thing.

thank God for sweat. and happy New Year.

I have never heard of someone who couldn't sweat! the little things we take for granted...

I sure could use upper body something, but for now, I'm just doing the walking.. well, haven't walked for over a week, but eventually I'll get around to it.. :)))

but yeah, if you are really thinking marathon, then a more rounded workout might be something to look into...

will be interested to hear how it goes...

happy '06!

OK, KT, have you been *reading* my blog this year??? Everything you are feeling, I have felt, too.

I was soooo intimidated when I started going to the gym! (And I was pushing a size 20 when I first started to go, back in May, ya know!)

Panic overwhelmed me EVERY SINGLE DAY... for MONTHS.

But ya know what, honey bun? I kept going!! It took time... a lot of patience and even what you might call "faith"... But now I actually like it.

Yes, cross training is good for you! I love my weight work out now. (God, don't let my trainer read that! He'll fall off his chair!)

I say, "Get thee to a gym!" Try out a couple and then pay for one for six months or a year... There's nothing like putting a little money down to motivate you to use what you've paid for.

Happy New Year to you, KT! Here's to getting me back to running and getting you into a gym!
